Exeter Pride Asexual Confidence and Self-Love Building Workshop

I’m thrilled Exeter Pride approached me on Instagram to do a workshop for their Exeter Pride event on the 9th of May. They felt like they hadn’t had enough representation of asexuality in the past, and wanted to make this year’s event, more inclusive. It feels such an honour to have been chosen to do this to represent the asexual community. This is a huge leap forward for asexual representation at Exeter Pride and for inclusivity.

The workshop, which is created and run by me, for Exeter Pride, is an Asexual Confidence and Self-Love Building Workshop. It’s an in-person only event at Phoenix arts centre in Exeter, UK – you can check out the venue here https://exeterphoenix.org.uk and my workshop is taking place between 4pm-5pm – so I would like attendees to be there at 3.55pm for a prompt start. Here is the registration link if you want to attend https://forms.gle/TjeckgMDpynwgCg58

Exeter Pride has a parade on that day, followed by a whole host of Pride activities, so you can make a day of it if you want. This is their website https://www.exeterpride.co.uk/pride-guide There were 10 places in total, but 2 places have already been taken.

About The Workshop

This workshop is designed to help asexuals have increased confidence, self-love and pride, in your asexual identity, through a series of reflective written exercises.

As asexuals, we can feel alone, left out, and isolated at times, that’s why it’s important to do things that increase your confidence, self-esteem and self-worth, and ultimately self-love, so you can lead a happier, more fulfilling life, and ACE it!

Being confident in your asexuality and in life itself, is about knowing yourself and loving yourself for who you are, regardless of what anyone else says, thinks, or does. This means spending meaningful time with yourself through self-dating, as well as doing a number of other things to fuel your confidence and self-love, so you don’t allow others’ opinions to drown out your own voice.

In this workshop, I’m going to explain ways in which this can be achieved and we are going to work our way through a set of written self-reflective exercises in your Asexual Confidence and Self-love workbook, which will be provided as part of the workshop, that you get to keep.

At the beginning of this workshop, I will be sharing a bit about my own asexual journey and by the end of this workshop, you will:

Have a set of Asexuality Principles to live by, that will increase your confidence in your asexuality and act as a safeguard when someone tries to dismiss your asexual identity or make you feel bad about it.

Be focused on the positives about yourself, so you can understand why you deserve love and happiness and are worthy of it.

Understand the concept of self-dating, what is it and isn’t, and why it’s important to do that to raise your confidence in yourself and your self-worth, which is an act of self-love. You will come up with ideas for this during the workshop that you can implement right away.

Identify what makes you feel happy and loved, so you can give more of that to yourself.

Have your own workbook with exercises you have filled in, that you can use to keep as tools to increase confidence and self-love, throughout your asexual life journey. Think of them as a helpful companion and life guide, tailored specifically to you.

Leave the workshop feeling more empowered, more self-regulated, and more inspired to live your best, authentic, asexual life.

Here is the registration link if you want to attend https://forms.gle/TjeckgMDpynwgCg58 places are likely to get filled fast, so if you want to come, make sure you book your place asap. If you have any questions, please let me know.

I will be around after the event if people who travel from afar want to stay for a while in the city and hang out afterwards, and get a drink and maybe some food too, or if you’re local and want to hang out, but this will not be part of the workshop. It will just be to socialise and chat afterwards with myself and any other asexuals who want that, as an optional thing, so you can leave as soon as the workshop ends, with no expectation to stay. The venue will be busy with Pride celebrations throughout the day and into the evening usually too. The bar gets pretty busy but it can be a lot of fun to be there during Pride and there are Wetherspoons not too far away – just a short walk, which can be handy for food and drink too.

I understand if you don’t live in the UK that this workshop might be too far for you to travel to, but I still thought you would like to know about it, as it’s great for asexuality being included in an LGBT+ event – and it helps a lot to raise more awareness of asexuality.

I look forward to seeing you there.

ASEXUAL BEAUTY AND PERSONAL CARE 10 Top Tips To BOOST Your Self-esteem And Feel Great!

Beauty and personal care

Asexual Beauty and Personal Care

In order to maintain your asexual beauty and personal care, it is important to not only get the right products, but to also take action to boost your self-esteem and feel great.

10 Top Tips To BOOST Your Self-esteem And Feel Great!

Look good and feel great by taking care of the most important person in your life, YOU!

Whether it’s pampering yourself from head to toe, or taking a simple bubble bath, the most important person to take care of is you! Because once you feel good on the inside, it will be clearly visible on the outside!

It is so important to boost your self-esteem whenever possible, and there are many ways you can do this with taking ultra good care of your personal health and beauty being one of them! You can also:

Hobbies

1) Do hobbies that make you feel great!

Get Creative

2) Be creative. Creativity boosts your energy levels and makes you feel good.

Water Wellness

3) Drink plenty of water, keeping hydrated is essential to your health and wellbeing and can make you feel more alert and energetic.

Endorphin Hit!

4) Exercise whenever possible, every little bit helps to release endorphins, which is those feel good chemicals!

5) Laughing also releases endorphins – so make sure you do as much to make yourself laugh as possible and try to get friends who you feel comfortable around, who you can be yourself with, and who make you laugh too!

Exercise Your Brain!

6) Physical exercise is important, but exercising your brain is equally, if not more important, as once the brain goes dead you feel dead inside, whilst still very much being alive, so take personal and professional development courses, read books, watch educational programmes and YouTube videos that will grow you as a person!

7) Indulge your senses whenever possible; sight, smell, taste and touch. Get out into fresh air or eat some lovely smelling food, which also tastes good, and if meeting up with friends in person, give them a hug to greet them and say goodbye!

Find Your Tribe!

8) Join both online and offline groups to make friends and spend time with those friends. See them in person or on video chat.

9) Spend time with people who really understand you and who you can relate to! Many of our problems stem from being around others who are not like ourself and who don’t understand us. If you have prolonged exposure to these types of people, it can be very destructive for your personal wellbeing as you can feel there is something wrong with you when there isn’t and you are constantly looking to fix you, when instead you just need to fix your situation, by removing these people from your life, or spending less time with them! You need to find your tribe, those who understand you and who want to be around you and spend time with you, because they love and like you for who you are.

Make Change Happen For You Not To You!

10) Trying something new, can be a bit scary at first, but it is good to push yourself out of your comfort zone as much as possible, otherwise your life stagnates and you can become bored with it, without realising. Plus your brain needs stimulation, even if you don’t like change, you should make change happen for you, rather than to you, therefore it is not so scary and you can make good progress with your life!

I hope these personal care 10 top tips to boost your self-esteem have helped you to feel great on the inside, so then you will radiate more beauty on the outside! Because YOU are worth it! Believe it!
